Most injuries are not “accidents” or random, uncontrollable acts of fate; rather, most injuries are predictable and preventable.

Unintentional injuries
are defined as injuries that occur without purposeful intent, including motor vehicle crashes, falls and accidental poisonings.
Intentional injuries are defined as injuries with purposeful intent, such as suicides, homicides and intimate partner violence.

Both types of injuries have a profound impact on the health and safety of Guilford County residents.
The good news is, with a focus on safety and injury prevention, we as a community can also have a profound impact on the health and safety of Guilford County residents.

Collaborating to prevent injuries and deaths through the identification, education and promotion of safety issues.
